An Ubuntu-powered version of Intel‘s Compute Stick (Intel to Challenge Rivals With Thumb-PC) has been launched. The STCK1A8LFC has half the RAM and quarter of the storage of the original Compute Stick (1GB and 8GB, respectively). It is available now, for $110.

Last month, LG lowered the price of its 55″ EG9600 UltraHD TV to $4,500 (LG Stresses Importance of Colour). Now, the 65″ model is listed on Amazon for $7,000 – $2,000 below its original price.

Panasonic has introduced a lighter, brighter version of its LQ70 displays (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 15), by removing the protective glass. The 84″ and 98″ LQ70L displays are UltraHD units with inbuilt 3D lookup table and six-axis colour correction. They feature a latticed aluminium frame to restrict twisting, and can be used in portrait mode. Panasonic built the displays based on requests from rental and staging customers.

Samsung has launched its ‘Summer Special’ deal in Germany. Between 6th July and 15th August, customers buying a 48″ – 88″ JS9590, JS9090 or JS8590 (JS9500, JS9000 and JS8500 outside Europe) TV, or any 48″ – 55″ Series 6 UltraHD model, will receive up to €1,000 cashback.
