What They Say
A US integrator, Keywest Technologies Inc, based in Kansas City, has a new antimicrobial film, infused with copper, that is claimed to be able to self-disinfect a touch screen in less than 15 minutes. The technology, called NanoShield, is from a Singapore company, Nanoveu Ktd.
What We Think
This kind of coating is clearly something that users will want, but unless the result is much, much quicker, it’s not likely to help much. I can’t imagine anything more frustrating than walking up to a self-service kiosk system and being told you can’t use it because someone else did, or to be warned that the anti-microbial process may not be complete. Better to have some kind of sanitiser to hand to allow that to be used, or allow a user to interact with their smartphone. (BR)
