What They Say
We carry a press release today that sets out that Lenovo has done a deal with a company called Kastus to use the firm’s antimicrobial and antiviral screen coverings in protectors up to 31″ and also as coating technologies on the displays.
The technology uses a patented ingredient that allows the coated surface to clean the display mainly using ambient (not UV) light, but also during darkness. The activated surface reacts with moisture in the air to form ‘reactive oxygen species’.
What We Think
As we have discussed a lot this year, this kind of technology is needed for touch screens in public places, but it’s not clear to me from the firm’s literature how quickly its technology works and that seems to me to be a critical issue. Still the endorsement of a deal with Lenovo will do the firm no harm.(BR)
