JVC Professional Video, a division of JVCKENWOOD USA Corporation, today announced its new GY-LS300 Super 35mm camera won a Post Pick Award from Post magazine last week during the 2015 NAB Show.
Considered one of the “coolest” new products at the show by Post, the GY-LS300 features JVC’s 4K Super 35 CMOS sensor and accepts a variety of interchangeable lenses.
“We are especially proud to receive the Post Pick Award for the flagship camera of our new 4KCAM product line,” said Craig Yanagi, manager, marketing and brand strategy, JVC Professional Video. “Merit-based awards like these are so important because they show we’ve developed a product that really connects with video professionals across the industry.”
The Post Pick Awards are determined by the magazine’s team of writers, contributors, and working professionals in the post industry. “Each year, our team walks the trade show floor to find the latest and most innovative new products and technologies to share with our readers. That’s why these awards are so prestigious,” explained Linda Romanello, Post managing editor.
“These awards are voted on, not by the editors of the magazine, but by actual post professionals who intend to use this gear in their day-to-day work. There is no greater endorsement than from the professionals themselves,” added Marc Loftus, Post senior editor.
While the camera includes a Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens mount, the GY-LS300 features JVC’s unique Variable Scan Mapping technology, which electronically adapts the active area of the Super 35 sensor to provide native support of PL and EF mount lenses, among many others. As a result, the camera provides almost limitless lens options when used with third-party lens adapters. The affordable camera records 4K Ultra HD, Full HD with 4:2:2 sampling, SD, and Web-friendly proxy formats.
A built-in HD streaming engine with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity allows live HD transmission directly to hardware decoders, the Wowza Streaming Engine, and the ProHD Broadcaster server powered by Zixi. With support for RTMP and other streaming protocols, the GY-LS300 can also stream directly to popular Web sites and content delivery networks (CDN) including Ustream. Other features include two XLR audio inputs, two SDHC/SDXC card slots for dual, backup, and continuous recording, and a 3.5-inch LCD display and 1.56 megapixel color viewfinder, both with smart focus assist functions.
The GY-LS300 has an MSRP of $4,395 and is available now. Participating authorized JVC Professional Video U.S. dealers are offering a free Rokinon prime lens or Metabones lens adapter with the purchase of a new GY-LS300camera through Sept. 30, 2015.
