‘People familiar with the plans’ have told the Taipei Times that Nokia Oyj is planning to cut between 10,000 and 15,000 people – 14% of its total 104,000 employees – from its workforce, following its merger with Alcatel-Lucent (Nokia Wins Alcatel-Lucent).
The job cuts will affect Nokia’s operations worldwide, and are part of a plan to save more than $1 million annually. About 1,300 jobs will go in Finland, for example, and slightly more in Germany.
