JDI Brings Dual Cell LCD to Monochrome for Mammography – Boosts LCD Transparency

What They Say

JDI has announced a new 21.3″ 5MP (2048 x 2560) IPS monochrome display panel that uses the idea of dual cell LCD technology to boost contrast. The firm said that it has solved potential problems of halo effects and double images which can be caused by parallax issues.

What We Think

More contrast helps mammographers to differentiate very subtle grey scale issues in images. JDI is at Display Week, but after the sale of one of its main fabs to Sharp was focussing much more on specialist applications as this. As well as the dual cell monochrome innovation, it showed an LCD with 87% transparency, that could have plenty of applications in retail and travel. (BR)
