Japan’s Shiki Theatre is using smart glasses to provide floating subtitles for its foreign and hearing-impaired visitors, according to Nikkei. The service has launched at the theatre’s Hokkaido venue, which is currently running the Disney musical, The Lion King. Subtitles for the show are available in five languages, including English, Chinese and Korean.
Moverio smart glasses by Seiko Epson were chosen by the theatre for the subtitling service, which is available for ¥2,000 ($18) or free for those that are hard of hearing.
