Japan PC, TV shipments continue to decline in October

What They Say

Digitimes reported that the ‘stay-at-home’ economy has slowed down in Japan with PC shipments in the country down 39.9% to 468K units in October and TVs down by 13% TO 369k units, based on data from JEITA. The PC drop was the seventh consecutive month, while for TVs it was the fourth.

OLED TV shipments increased by 13.3% to 47K units because of new sizes and reduced prices.

Local researchers, Fuji Chimera Research suggested that the year to date volume for TVs was actually up 0.9% to 4.278 million and that annual shipments would be flat.

What We Think

The PC drop is a really big one and surprised me. If any readers have any insight into the big drop, I’d be happy to hear it! (BR)
