J-Curved Displays at Data Modul

What They Say

Invidis reported that Data Modul of Munich has some new ‘J-Shaped’ curved displays that are expected to be used in slot machines in the gaming market.

“The J-Curved displays are currently becoming more and more popular because their special shape makes them particularly conspicuous and thus offers new possibilities for applications such as casino machines, vending machines or digital signage,” explains Xue Li, Product Manager at Data Modul.

The 43″ and 55″ displays have 500 cd/m² of output and UHD resolution and are available with or without PCap touch. There are also 49″ and 50″ J and C curved displays available on request and subject to requirements and order volume.

What We Think

It’s a few years since I went to the Casino show in London, but it was often an interesting place to see new edgy concepts. Casino owners are incredibly knowledgeable about the costs of their systems and are happy to invest when they see good returns. They also care about quality. Eizo Corp is a significant supplier into the Pachinko industry in Japan. The firm’s products are never the cheapest, but a Pachinko parlour operator knows how much revenue per hour it loses if a seat becomes unavailable, so high reliability is essential, even if it costs more.
