Germany Makes Way for 2017 DVB-T2

A helicopter installs a DVB-T antenna in MunichGermany’s federal cabinet has agreed to re-allocate frequencies in the 700MHz band, setting a time period for the introduction of DVB-T2. The new platform will be rolled out in 2017, with receivers in the same year. Tabea Rößner, a spokesperson for Germany’s digital infrastructure, said that the cabinet “risked everything” with its decision, which was “not at all user-friendly”. Meanwhile, a Broadcast Media spokesperson has said that receivers will be available in mid-2016.
