Rumours from Japan suggest that the next iPhone (oh yes, the 7 is here, so now the topic for the next year will be the 8! – Man. Ed.) will have a front surface based on a display occupying the full front surface and without a home button or wide bezels. Most rumours about next year’s iPhone suggest the display will be an OLED, but the Nikkei says that JDI is developing an LCD with very narrow bezels. There are rumours that there will be three versions of the iPhone next year, including a larger than 5.5″ model, which might be the one to adopt OLED. Engineering issues to be addressed including keeping the Touch ID home function, allowing a camera to work and including microphones.
