iPhone 8 Plus Delivering Impressive UHD Video Results

The iPhone 8 Plus’ camera specs look good on paper, but now we have word that Apple’s new smartphone is living up to its hype when it comes to shooting ultra high-definition video.

Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus was released earlier this month.

LA cinematographer Matteo Bertolli took the new iPhone out on a recent filming session and was impressed by the device’s capabilities.

“Apple said they improved the sensor and that is true. I was super impressed by the colours this iPhone is able to pull out. Dynamic range is also very impressive and finally the second camera was improved at a point where you can actually use it for video”.

The iPhone 8 Plus packs a dual 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7-megapixel front camera, and can shoot UHD video in up to 60fps, or 1080p up to 240fps.

Matteo released this video that he shot recently to demonstrate just well it all works. The film was shot in ultra high-definition using Filmic Pro and DaVinci Resolve 14 for post-production. The cinematographer clarified that a Rhino slider was used at points but the device was held completely by hand throughout shooting.

Matteo did point out that the premium iPhone X, due out next month, will provide dual optical image stabilisation on both camera modules, whereas only the iPhone 8 Plus’s wide-angle lens possesses this feature.

The iPhone 8 Plus is available in two storage sizes. The 64GB model is priced at $799, while the 256GB capacity costs $949.
