iPhone 14 Pro Sales Favorable Yet Cannot Vanquish Rising Inflation, Apple Cuts 1Q23 Production to 52 Million Units, Says TrendForce

What They Say

TrendForce released its latest smartphone forecast and said that it expects that the ratio of iPhone 14 Pro to Plus models could reach 65%, having got to 60%. It said that the Apple target for 2022 is 240 million units, up 2.8%. However, economic headwinds mean that its initial plan of 56 million units for Q1 2023 will be reduced to 52 million.

Looking forward to the iPhone 15 series, TrendForce forecast that Apple will maintain a four new model release schedule featuring two processors to further differentiate between standard and high-end models.

What We Think

As we reported earlier this month (Apple Reportedly Slows Down iPhone 14 Series Production, But Still Well Ahead of 2021 per DSCC, Pro Max Up 18% Y/Y), DSCC said that the Pro and Pro Max are taking 55% in 2022 and that the Pro Max alone is accounting for 32% share of the panels being shipped to Apple. (BR)
