What They Say
Ray Soneira has published his in-depth review of the iPhone 12 Pro Max display and found it to be at the leading edge of OLED (and other) smartphones. As usual, he finds extremely good accuracy in low light and slowly improving performance in high ambient. with
“a Record calibrated Full White Screen Brightness of 825 nits for the sRGB/Rec.709 and DCI-P3 Color Gamuts”
On the downside, the screen reflectance is marginally higher on the level of the iPhone 11 Pro Max, at 4.8% from 4.5%.
What We Think
I gave Ray a hard time over the fact that his reviews always describe the great displays as ‘basically perfect’. In reply, he contributed an article that highlighted that this is largely true in low ambient, but is still some way off in high ambient.
