During the announcement of its Q2 results, Intevac described a coating it has developed for smartphone display cover glass. The company has been working with its Vertex physical vapour deposition (PVD) product for some time (the first was shipped in Q1), and in late July sold a system to a new “tier one” customer. The Vertex system can deposit an optically-transparent, scratch-resistant protective coating on to cover glass.
