Taiwanese Panel Makers’ January 2017 results

AU Optronics announced its Jan. 2017 revenues at NT$ 28.4 billion ($909 million), which was slightly lower by 9% as compared to Dec. 2016 revenues due to fewer working days owing to Chinese New year, but 16.8% higher on year on year basis. Shipments of large-sized panels were around 8.5 million units in Jan. 2017, down by 13.2% from the previous month. As for small-and-medium-sized panels, the shipments exceeded 11.9 million units, down by 5.3% from previous month. AUO also announced FY16 consolidated revenues of NT$329.1 billion ($10.5 billion), a decrease of 8.7% on year on year basis and net profit of NT$6.61 billion ($211 million), resulting in a net profit margin of 2%.

HannStar Display announced revenues of NT$ 2.2 billion ($69.6 million) in Jan. 2017, which was 33% lower than the previous month but 56% higher on year on year basis. The company shipped 35.3 million small- to medium-size panels and 61,000 large-size units and own-brand LCD monitors in January, dropping 19.7% and 47.3% respectively compared to the previous month.

Innolux Corp. announced revenues of NT$27.3 billion ($873 million) in Jan. 2017, a decrease of 15.2% compared to the previous month and an increase of 29.3% on a year on year basis. During Jan. 2017, Innolux shipped 8.1 million units of large-sized products, a decrease of 20% versus the previous month. Shipments for small-and-medium-sized products were 17.8 million units, a decrease of 22.4% from December.

Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) announced its consolidated revenues at NT$3.2 billion ($101 million) in Jan. 2017, dipping 17.9% as compared to the previous month but growing 25.1% on year on year basis. The company shipped 22.5 million small- to medium-size panels in Jan. 2017, decreasing 24.6% compared to the previous month and 23.1% on year on year basis. It also shipped 157,000 large-size units in the month, increasing 28.0% sequentially and 17.0% on an annualbasis.
