Infocomm 2017 Round up

Sony was attracting a lot of interest for its Cledis display, which was being named as Crystal LED now. It is still very impressive, although it remains quite glossy. As a demonstration of the colour performance of the LED, Sony was showing it alongside a BVM-X300 Trimaster broadcast monitor.

We looked at the VPL-PHZ10 which is a 5.000 Ansi lumen projector that was originally shown at ISE (Cledis and Laser Projectors from Sony). Sony told us that the warranty it gives is five years or 12,000 hours and that has made it popular and the unit is already back ordered.

We had a good look at the 100″ Sony FWD100Z9D professional monitor – the professional version of the 100″ TV that Sony has. The unit has very good performance with around 1,000 zones of direct backlighting and has a peak brightness of 2,000 cd/m². The monitor can internally convert from SDR to HDR.

Transtech was showing a 27″ Autostereoscopic 3D display based on a 27″ UltraHD LCD display and being sold under the NewTop brand. The company can also develop autostereo 3D based on LED technology in 110″ and 165″ versions and offers services in 3D conversion of content.

Triumph Board was showing its new designs of interactive displays which are available in 65″, 75″, 85″ and 98″ and are all UltraHD.

Unilumin had new outdoor SMD-based LED displays in the USurface II range and the UStorm II series. As usual, the product image quality looked good. The cabinets are quite large at 1 x 1.2 m and the design concept is that cabinets are configurable with different modules for different pitches or for future upgrades, with no need to change or update the cabinet. Different pixel pitch displays also use the common cabinet. Also on display were new narrow pixel pitch designs that go down to 0.9mm pitch, although 1.5mm and up is likely to be the main market. The brightness is 800 cd/m². The module ‘pops out’ for easy maintenance and the units are designed to integrate the power and driver connectors, so that there are no cables at all between modules – assembling them connects them together.
