Iiyama’s webpage about its new 27″ gaming monitor is full of hunting metaphors. The display will ‘spike down on your enemies’; it is ‘a powerful predator’, showing ‘no mercy’. It is the G-Master GB2788HS-B1 Red Eagle.
With support for AMD’s Freesync, there may actually be some truth behind the PR puffery. Iiyama’s monitor has a fast 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. Freesync means that it is is free of screen tearing. The Black Tuner feature can be used to adjust the visibility of shadowed areas.
A TN panel is built in to the monitor, with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 170°/160° viewing angles. Resolution is 1920 x 1080 and brightness is 300 cd/m². DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D inputs are featured.
Iiyama’s monitor can be tilted (0° – 17°), swivelled (90°) and is height-adjustable (130mm). It is on sale now, for £240 ($370) ex VAT.
