IHS has published a report on the wide colour gamut display market. This market is expected to grow from 2.8% of total display demand in 2015, to 25% in 2020 (WCG Displays Represent Quarter of Display Market by 2020).
Wide colour gamut is mostly used in the smartphone market, where OLED screens are heavily used. In addition, TV brands are aggressively promoting quantum dot solutions – which will further contribute to the expanding popularity of WCG displays. QD solutions are expected to grow from a market share of sub-1% this year to more than 9% in 2020.
