South Korean auto parts maker Hyundai Mobis has developed the world’s first rollable display for cars. The display has a screen that can be extended up to 30 inches, disappears when the engine is turned off, and can be rolled up and down according to driving conditions. The screen resolution is 2560 x 1440 pixels, and up to two-thirds of the screen can be covered when minimal driving information is required. The technology is only 12 centimeters deep and is aimed at diversifying interior design. Hyundai Mobis plans to obtain orders for the rollable display from luxury carmakers in North America and Europe.
