Huawei has announced its plans to launch Huawei Video, a Netflix-a-like streaming service, in Spain and Italy during the first quarter of 2018. Jaime Gonzalo, VP of Huawei Consumer Europe Mobile Services, made the announcement last Thursday at Huawei’s Eco-Connect Europe 2017 conference in Berlin.
Huawei’s Mate 10 Pro smartphone launches next month.
Huawei Video will initially launch exclusively for Huawei and Honor smartphone users and will provide both local and international content, TV shows and movies, ad-free. Spanish broadcast network group Atresmedia and digital distribution firm Under the Milky Way will both support the new platform.
It’s unknown whether there will be any kind of subscription model for Huawei Video at launch.
