MIC smartphone shipments

According to a new report from Taiwan’s Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), Huawei outperformed the rest of the smartphone market in Q2, selling 28.2 million smartphones, up 54.9% from Q1. MIC believes that Huawei’s full-year shipments in 2015 could break 100 million units.

Shipments of other brands such as LG, Xiaomi and ZTE continued to grow steadily in Q2. LG shipped 14.1 million smartphones and although this was down 8.4% sequentially, LG continues to sustain its foothold, thanks to strong sales of its G4 and new product roll-outs.

Shipment volume of the global smartphone industry is expected to hit around 353 million units in the third quarter of 2015, up 4.6% sequentially and 6.9% year-on-year.
