HTC has signed a deal with the Shenzen Municipal Government to set up an RMB 10 billion ($1.45 billion) fund for the development of VR and the formation of a China VR Research Institute. The Institute is expected to have multiple R&D centres in the core technologies of sensors, display, graphics, data visualization, human-machine interaction and other related areas. It will also promote applications across various industries, such as healthcare, military, engineering, design and manufacturing.
HTC is also involved with the ViveX programme (www.vivex.co), the Virtual Reality Venture Capital Alliance, www.vrvca.com and the Industry of Virtual Reality Alliance, www.ivra.com.
