HP has launched the HP Envy x2 a Windows 10 detachable PC that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. The device has a claimed battery life of 20 hours and uses a WUXGA+ (we think this is 1920 x 1280) IPS touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 4. The notebook has an integrated 4G model for LTE connectivity and is being sold as part of the “Always Connected PC” initiative. It has up to 8GB of DRAM and up to 256GB of Flash storage. Windows 10 Pro is an option for corporate use.

The aluminium tablet section is 6.9mm thick and the whole device including keyboard weighs 1.54lbs (0.7kg)

The Envy x2 will be available in the Spring of 2018, when pricing will be indicated.

It’s a long time since there was an option to the X86 architecture for a current full version of Windows. It will be interesting to see how application compatibility rolls out, but there must be a lot of road warriors who might be interested in this device if it is really compatible.
