HP Extends Elite Series of Business PCs

New notebooks and AIO desktops have been released in HP’s Elite family. Focusing on reliability and durability, for mobile workers, the products are designed to pass MIL-SPEC 810G testing (still pending at time of writing) and more than 12,000 hours of HP’s own Total Testing Process.

The Elitebook 705 G3 series consists of three models, in 12.5″, 14″ and 15.6″ (Elitebook 725, 745 and 755, respectively) sizes. They are ‘thin and light’ models, measuring 18.9mm thick and weighing 1.26kg. The lid and keyboard deck are built with a magnesium alloy, while the undercarriage is magnesium. Resolution options are 1366 x 768 and 1920 x 1080 on all models. The 14″ also has an option of 2560 x 1440.

The Premium Keyboard from the Elitebook 1020 series has been built into the 700 series; this is backlit and spill-resistant. They also feature rechargable batteries that will last up to three years (or 1,000 charge/discharge cycles). HP claims that this is up to three times longer than conventional notebook batteries.

An AMD Pro A12 APU runs Windows 10. Storage can be a 500GB/1TB HDD or 128GB – 512GB SSD, with up to 16GB of RAM.

DisplayPort, VGA, USB 3.0 (x2), USB-C (the first of HP’s business notebooks to feature the new standard), RJ45 and a docking port are featured.

HP is selling the new Elitebook 705 G3 series now, starting at $750.

Two new AIO PCs were also released, the EliteOne 705 G2 and EliteOne 800 G2. The 705 is AMD-based while the 800 uses Intel’s new Skylake processors and DDR4 memory.

Both new units feature an adjustable height stand and tri-mode wireless phone charging, using an optional wireless charger built into the stand. This can support the Qi, Power Matters Alliance and Alliance for Wireless Power standards. HP has not released any more details about these products yet, however. They will be launched in September for $850 (EliteOne 705) and October for $1,200 (EliteOne 800).
