Hitachi is launching a new projector series in Europe, shortly before ISE 2016. The 5000 series is a range of affordable installation projectors, with a focus on performance, image quality and reliability.
Five models form the series: CP-WX5500 and CP-WX5505 (1280 x 800), CP-WU5500 and CP-WU5505 (1920 x 1200) and CP-X5550 (1024 x 768). All of them feature blending, warping and HDBaseT functionality. They also have HDMI-in and -out ports; the output can be used to synchronise content across projectors.
The Hitachi Accentualizer, an image processing engine, is built in. This compensates for ambient light and enhances sharpness, gloss and shade. It works with Hitachi’s Image Optimiser, which automatically adjusts the HDR and Accentualizer to counter loss of brightness and clarity over time.
Other features are included in the new models. These include Perfect Fit – enabling the adjustment of the corners and sides of a projected image by remote control – and Instant Stack, for quick stacking. The new Schedule Setting feature can be used to set power-up and -down times.
The projectors have a vertical/horizontal keystone adjustment and DICOM Simulation mode.
All models have a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. They use a 300W lamp, lasting 4,000 – 6,000 hours. Each has a 1.4-2.3:1 throw ratio and produce a 30″ – 300″ image. They also share HDMI (x2), mini-VGA, RCA, USB and RJ45 ports, with HDBaseT on the CP-WX5505 and WU5505.
The CP-X5550 is a 5,500 lumen model; all others are 5,000 lumens. Each has a 1.6x optical zoom aside from the CP-WU models, which are 1.7x.
Hitachi will launch the CP-WX models in February, with the other models being made available in March and April. They measure 460 x 334 x 138mm and weigh 6.8kg.
