Hitachi Enhances 8000 Series Contrast

Two new 3LCD projectors have expanded Hitachi’s line-up of HDBaseT models. The CP-WU8451 and CP-WU8461 can receive HDMI signals from up to 100m from the source, via CAT5e/CAT6.

The contrast ratio of the new projectors is higher than other models in the 8000 Series; Hitachi claims to have increased contrast by 60%, to 5,000:1.

Specifications are identical between the projectors, differing only in brightness and lamp type. The WU8451 uses a 330W UHP lamp, lasting 2,500 – 3,000 hours, while the WU8461 uses a 365W lamp lasting 2,000 – 3,000 hours. The WU8451 outputs 5,000 lumens and the WU8461 outputs 6,000 lumens.

The projectors have 1920 x 1200 resolution and a powered zoom (2x) and focus. They can throw a 30″ – 600″ image from 1m – 19.3m (1.5-3.0:1 throw ratio). Vertical keystone correction and vertical and horizontal lens shift are featured.

Dual 8W speakers are built in, with HDMI (x2), VGA, S-Video, composite, component, USB-A (x2), USB-B, RJ45 and RS232 ports. The models measure 498 x 396 x 135mm and weigh 9.2kg.

Both projectors are on sale in Europe now. The WU4851 costs £4,875 ($7,420) ex VAT. A price was not shared for the WU4861.
