Hitachi Compensates for Ageing

A range of seven new 3LCD projectors from Hitachi have been developed to have a low TCO and high lamp life – up to 10,000 hours in eco mode. They are ultra-short throw units: the CP-AX2505, AX3005, AX3505, AW2505, AW3005, TW2505 and TW3005.

A new feature on all models is Image Optimiser. This compensates for ageing, ensuring that images retain their brightness, colour and contrast. Image Optimiser also interacts with other features, such as the Accentualiser (enhances sharpness, gloss and shade), automatically adjusting them to maintain image quality.

Three of the projectors (AX models) have 1024 x 768 resolution, while the others have 1280 x 800. The TW units are interactive, supporting up to six touch points; these models also feature MHL-HDMI ports and driverless operation, so can be connected to a PC and used instantly. The TW models feature built-in cameras to support touch operation when connected to a PC, and can be used with other imaging devices – such as document cameras – when used alone.

Aside from resolution, brightness varies between the projectors. The AX2505, AW2505 and TW2505 have 2,700 lumens; the AX3005, AW3005 and TW3005 have 3,300 lumens; and the AX3505 has 3,600 lumens. Lamp power is 250W, lasting between 4,000 and 10,000 hours.

Each projector has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 1.35x digital zoom. They have a 0.3:1 throw ratio and can project a 60″ – 100″ image.

HDMI (x2), mini-VGA (x2), composite, RS232, RJ45 and USB (x2) ports are featured, as well as a 16W speaker. The projectors measure 377 x 360 x 136mm and weigh 4.3kg.

Hitachi is selling the projectors now.
