What We Think
This is the first ATSC 3.0 set to be available outside the top three premium brands of Samsung, LG and Sony. Frankly, if you can afford one of their sets, you can probably afford the cost of CableTV or SVOD services. If the ATSC 3.0 technology is to really get great traction, Hisense is the kind of brand that it needs to attract to support the technology. Pete Putman, who has been close to the US broadcast industry for a long time, believes it’s already too late for the standard, but without cheaper sets it will never get the critical mass it will need.
