Google has officially ended support for the Daydream VR platform, four years after its introduction and there is no guarantee that Android 11 will support compatible headsets. Google ended its sales of headsets a year ago. Google said
“… asking people to put their phone in a headset and lose access to the apps they use throughout the day causes immense friction.”
What We Think
This kind of announcement just pushes VR further into a consumer niche. It looks as though the market will be split between stand-alone headset systems and console add-ons in the future. (BR)
