What They Say
Market research group Kagan has release a forecast for SmartTVs that suggests that the segment will not take more share, with around 72%, below the level of 2020 and with a flattening from last year. The total should be 153 million sets this year.
What We Think
It’s slightly surprising when you are used to sophisticated markets like Europe and North America to see that all TVs are not SmartTVs. The current macroeconomic climate is going to lead to a lot of buyers going for the cheapest device they can find, I think.
Bizarrely, the article talks about continuing shortage of panels – it’s not what we have heard. (BR)
