Sony Digital Cinema 4Khas confirmed the sale of Europe’s first 4K laser dual projection system to German cinema operators; two SRX-R815DS systems have been purchased by Cinecitta’ Nuremberg, one of Europe’s largest multiplexes.
A further SRX-R815DS system has been purchased by CineSpace for its Waterfront complex in Bremen, which features northern Germany’s largest cinema screen (25m) complete with Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Installed by cinema exhibition services supplier CinemaNext, all systems were operational in time for the European opening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 14, which will be made available to cinemas as a native 4K digital cinema package.
