Fujitsu’s Tablets are Adaptable

Fujitsu has refreshed its series of Lifebook convertible tablets, and added a new model to its Stylistic detachable range. The firm has focused on security in these new devices (Lifebook T936 and T726; Stylistic Q736): each features a fingerprint sensor, smart card reeader, embedded Trusted Platform Module and Intel vPro support. They also have optional OPAL drive encryption.

The Lifebook series features displays that can be rotated 180°, and are sensitive to pen and finger touch. They have chemically-strengthened cover glass and a magnesium alloy cover for protection; each is tested against military standards. The keyboard is anti-microbial and spill-resistant.

Both models have IGZO displays. The T936 is 13.3″ with either 2560 x 1440 or 1920 x 1080, while the T726 is 12.5″ with 1280 x 720. Windows 10 Pro runs on sixth-generation Intel Core processors (up to 3.4Ghz Core i7), with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM on the T936 and 4GB (upgradeable to 20GB) on the T726. Both have up to 500GB of storage.

Brightness is 350 cd/m², with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and TN panel (170°/160° viewing angles).

The T9336 features HDMI, USB 3.0 (x2) and RJ45 ports. The T726 features DisplayPort (x2), DVI (shared with DisplayPort; only works when DisplayPort is not connected), VGA, USB 3.0 (x4) and RJ45 connections.

Fujitsu’s Stylistic range is differentiated by its Shell Concept design (introduced in 2013). This is a range of different covers (‘Shells’) for the tablets, which add additional functionality. Users can add smart card, PalmSecure, mounting and magnetic stripe shells. Additionally, the tablet features a detachable keyboard, which holds a battery to extend lifetime, and is compatible with a desktop dock.

The Q736 has a 13.3″ display (1920 x 1080), with 160° viewing angles and 300 cd/m² of brightness. The base unit runs Windows 10 Pro on a Core i5 processor, although Core i7 processors can be used. Storage is up to 512GB. Micro-HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports are featured; RJ45 can be added through the docking cradle.

Fujitsu launched the tablets in late February, but has not revealed prices yet.
