Digital UK has opened up on the technical specification for Freeview Play. This means that all broadcasters, platforms and equipment manufacturers can participate in the next gen hybrid DTT/OTT platform. Development of the platform has been led by Digital UK and incorporates features recently defined in the HbbTV 2.0 standard for internet services and applications. Freeview Play is currently available in a range of Panasonic TVs and Panasonic and Humax recorders with LG, Manhattan and Vestel expected to release Freeview Play-enabled products this year.
