Today, LG Electronics announced that owners of 2016 LG Smart TVs, will be able to take full advantage of Freeview Play functionality by scrolling back through their TV guide to enjoy shows from the last seven days. In addition, entertainment services from UKTV Play and STV will also join the range of catch up services available from Freeview Play.
The Freeview Play scroll back TV guide is fully integrated into the webOS platform and will allow owners of LG’s webOS 3.0 Smart TVs to easily find programmes from the previous seven days in the TV guide. Additional catch up and on demand programming is also available in the Freeview Play apps area.
The initial introduction of Freeview Play to LG Smart TVs in May 2016 provided LG with the opportunity to offer its users on demand services from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and Demand 5. In combination with LG’s other content partners, LG Smart TVs now offer viewers one of the most comprehensive selections of services in the UK.
Darren Petersen, LG Senior Content and Services Manager, said: “LG recognises that UK consumers have a very strong heritage in using the TV Guide for navigating and browsing through their favourite TV content, and with the introduction of the Freeview Play scroll back guide, consumers have the choice to watch what they want at a time to suit them, through an easy to use, familiar format. This additional, convenient, function, coupled with our impressive OLED and Super UHD TV range, really does present viewers with the very best home entertainment experience.”
Since launching in 2014, LG’s webOS Smart TV platform has been praised by technology experts for its ease-of-use, seamless usability and advanced and intuitive user experience.
