France: 40% growth for SVoD market

Data from French consultancy, Médiamétrie, reported by, has said that the number of French internet users subscribing to an SVoD service has risen from 15% a year ago to 21% now. Netflix has been the main actor in this move, the firm says, ahead of Canal Play and SFR Play. The key reason for choosing a platform is the quality and richness of the catalogue and more than 75% using the services weekly, and with a significant number of subscribers (44%) accessing OTT content daily. Consumers also liked the convenience and cost compared to other ways of accessing content as well as the lack of advertising.
