Companies in the Foxconn group have taken a 7.32% stake in Epileds, a maker of LEDs and may have a plan to become the largest shareholder, according to Taiwanese sources. The stake was enabled through a new share issue. The investment is reported to have been motivated by a desire to widen support for the use of microLEDs.
Sharp, also controlled by Foxconn, bought eLux which is working on microLED last year. (Sharp Buys eLux)
