IMax has launched its fifth VR Experience Centre at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, United Kingdom, the first of its kind in Europe.
The centre operates in a similar fashion to other global IMax sites, with pods featuring an array of solo and multiplayer games and experiences, via HTC Vives connected to high-powered gaming PCs tucked away safely on a shelf up above. This clever design eliminates the risk of tripping hazards, as no hardware or wires are present.
Sessions are booked and paid for just like films. Each game or experience costs between £7.50 and £10 (around $10 to $13.50) per session, and lasts up to 15 minutes. Pods are manned by assistants who will take users through the experience and how to safely operate the equipment.
The experiences currently on offer at the Manchester location include Justice League: An IMax VR Exclusive and Star Trek: Bridge Crew.
