Sources in Taiwan’s supply chain have said that Mozilla is likely to work with Chinese vendors to produce Firefox-based smartphones. These phones will be sold in Africa through Millicom’s subsidiaries next year.
Mozilla has been working with vendors including TCL, ZTE and Huawei, as well as Spice and Intex in India and Cherry Mobile for a Philippines-specific model.
A mid-range Firefox smartphone, built by LG, will be introduced in Japan ‘soon’, say supply chain sources.
