Fingerprint Sensor Popularity on the Rise

Sources in the supply chain claim that orders for fingerprint recognition solutions for smartphones and smartwatches are rising. As well as Apple and Samsung, Chinese makers are beginning to integrate the technology into their own models (Huawei’s Ascend Mate 7 uses it; see our coverage in Mobile Display Monitor for more – TA). ‘A surge’ of orders is expected for fingerprint technology, for products to be released in 2014 and 2015. Demand is also rising for Invisible Fingerprint Sensor solutions, from TPK subsidiary Goodix. IFS puts the fingerprint sensor underneath the touch panel.
