Turkey’s Fatih Project hit significant delays last year. The movement aims to provide a tablet to every school child and a smartboard to every classroom.
The Turkish government had planned to distribute 1.2 million tablets and 100,000 smartboards last year. However, the latest official figures show that only 550,000 tablets and 30,000 smartboards were rolled out. Technical infrastructure improvements (making schools ready for the new devices) only took place at 135 schools out of the planned 2,800.
The news was not all bad, as the target of 125,000 tablets were distributed to teachers.
