UK distribution firm Exertis has formulated an agreement with Samsung to distribute the company’s The Frame 55″ Ultra HD TV to B2B partners, which was highlighted at IFA (Samsung Adds Flat QLED TVs, a Gaming Monitor and Wearables)
The Frame, a collaboration between Samsung and Swiss designer Yves Behar, operates as a normal TV, but when it’s switched it off it switches to Art Mode, where it doubles as a decorative accessory, displaying professionally curated photographs from an on-board gallery featuring over 100 pictures.
The Frame pairs to the One Connect box via a transparent cable and uses a gapless wall mount to help it blend into a room like a real painting. A subscription service is available to consumers to deliver regular updates to the in-built photo gallery. Users can also upload and display their own images with the device’s 2GB of storage.
A light sensor adjusts the display automatically, and changes can be made using the Smart View mobile app, via the user’s home network.
