Eutelsat SVP: “142 Ultra HD Channels Now Broadcasting Worldwide”

According to Advanced Television, Eutelsat’s Senior VP of New TV Formats, Michel Chabrol, told attendees at Mipcom that there are now 142 Ultra HD channels and services operating globally, compared to 99 back in April 2018.

He added that 55 are transmitted via satellite, with the remainder made up of 85 IPTV services and two terrestrial channels. 93 channel feeds are also being supplied to operators via satellite.

The first full-time terrestrial channel broadcasting in UHD launched in China this month, following the six-month operation of a demo channel. Meanwhile, in Europe, a total of 76 UHD channels are being offered across 46 countries, broadcasting in 33 different languages.
