The Spanish cable operator Euskaltel, is launching a new UHD STB this month with Android technology for current and new subscribers. This was reported by Xataka Movil, citing the company’s CEO, Francisco Arteche.
Euskaltel is also upgrading its network with the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1 covering 24% of its network, with plans to surpass 40% in June. The new technology means Euskaltel will also be in a position to offer symmetric connections over its network.
Euskaltel currently has 275,000 pay-TV subscribers with a 58.5% penetration. Vodafone is believed to be the only operator in Spain to have rolled out a UltraHD-compatible STBs, expanding its UHD content to five dedicated channels.
