Elliptic & Lenovo Implement Sensing on Notebook

What They Say

Sensor maker, Elliptic Labs of Norway, said that its technology is being used in the Lenovo T14 notebook and is the ‘first software-only human presence detection solution’.

Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Presence Sensor enables the laptop to automatically lock or unlock whenever the user leaves or returns to the screen. Elliptic Labs’ platform combines ultrasound, sensor fusion, and proprietary machine learning (ML) tools.

Separately, Elliptic said that it has joined the main list of the Oslo Stock exchange.

What We Think

I was aware of Elliptic having met them at MWC in 2018, but we have been reporting on the firm since 2014. Last year it said it had been working with a Smart TV maker on a ‘proof of concept’ project for its technology. (Elliptic Labs Signs PoC Agreement with a Leading Global Smart TV Manufacturer) (BR)
