Elbit Systems of America, the US based high performance supplier of medical, aviation and military systems has been contracted to provide a head mounted display for testing in US Navy helicopters. The program administrator is Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and the program will be completed within a year.
According to the press release, the program is part of the US Navy’s MH-60 Sierra’s Improved Targeting System for the Seahawks’ Armed Helicopter Weapon Kits. They will supply their Color Helmet Display and Tracking System (CHDTS) for the testing. The system provides full color information on the flight status and navigation systems. It also supports the pilot in the employment of any installed weapon systems. – NH
