Eizo Shifts Gears in Integrated KVMs for ATC

What They Say

Eizo put out a substantial press release highlighting new technology it has for combining multiple inputs (up to 4) sources, but with complete freedom to place the images anywhere on the display and with any scaling and order priority. This allows a single monitor design to be used for multiple specialist workers in an air traffic control (ATC) environment. Combined with this sophisticated PiP or PBP mode, the firm has an integrated SwitchLink system which allows a single keyboard and mouse to be used to switch between the interface windows. That elminiates a number of potential failure points, a key consideration for ATC. Any USB HID device can be used to control the system.

The firm has also developed a touch system which also allows the choice of windows.

The technology is available on 42.5″ and 31.5″ primary control and tower monitors, the Raptor RP4325 and Raptor RP3225.

What We Think

This is a great added value development that will really help ATC users. Most PiP and PBP solutions are not configurable, but use standard set-ups. I remember meeting a Korean company at CES that could provide specialist monitors that had different custom set-ups available, but, frustratingly, I couldn’t find my report in my search of our database.
