DuPont announced financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2022. Bright spot in sales of OLED materials but lower demand for smartphones and computers push sales down. The company makes a series of resins, OLED display materials, and adhesives for the industry.
The Division That Matters: Electronics & Industrial
Dollars in millions, unless noted | FY’22 | FY’21 | Change vs. FY’21 | Organic Sales vs. FY’21 |
Net sales | $5,917 | $5,554 | 7 % | 5 % |
Operating EBITDA | $1,836 | $1,758 | 4 % | |
Operating EBITDA margin % | 31.0 % | 31.7 % | (70) bps |
Full year performance for the company saw sales of $13 billion for the whole company, but what is of interest to us is the Electronics & Industrial division (just under half the company’s sales) where DuPont has a portfolio of products that are sold into the display industry. In this division, sales were up high single-digits with OLED materials showing a bump in sales while interconnect solutions sales were down mid single-digits on volume declines related to weaker smartphones and personal computing end-markets globally.
