The digital camera market continues to decline rapidly and the Japan-based Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) said that in 2016, Japanese vendors shipped 24.19 million cameras, a drop of 31.7% from 2015. Consumer devices were the most heavily affected with 12.582 units, down 43.7%; 8.449 million DSLR units, a drop of 13.0%; and 3.159 million MILCs (mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras), down 5.6%.
