Dell has announced two new mobile thin client devices supporting “all VDI protocols”, and can connect to Citrix XenDesktop, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware Horizon. The Dell Latitude E7270 and Latitude 3460 have 12.5″ (FullHD) and 14″ (1366 x 768) displays and both use Intel processors. The smaller unit is more powerful and is claimed by Dell to be the most powerful mobile client available and has a 6th generation Core i5 processor, while the larger unit has an Intel Celeron 3215U processor. Both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD flash. Ports include USB 3.0, HDMI, gigabit Ethernet, and WLAN and Bluetooth options.
The units will be made available in the US on 4th October.
Analyst Comment
The systems on which these configurations are based are already in the market.
